Very nice, quaint, family-run restaurant! Big Mikes was recommended to us and did not disappoint. Upon entering, we were greeted and asked to seat ourselves. The waitress came to our table and pulled one of the dry-erase boards with her. The board advised us of the most popular items on the menu. I ordered the fried fish and fried chicken livers with collard greens, cabbage, yams and Mac and cheese. My mister ordered hush puppies as our appetizer, and the fried fish and fried pork chops with cabbage, fried okra and rice and gravy as his entree . We both got the sweet tea. The tea was homemade, refreshing and free refills.

The hush puppies arrive first with individual containers of honey butter. The hush puppies were amazing. Based upon the taste of our appetizer, I was looking forward to our entree! As we looked up, the restaurant was starting to get packed. We were glad to have arrived when we did.

My entree was good and my mister generally has a lot to say, but during this meal he was too busy eating to talk. So needless to say he enjoyed his meal. We definitely recommend this restaurant and will make this a place that we need to come to whenever we are in the area.

Wow wow wow !! From the outside I never would have expected such great food, especially from a small town like Myrtle Beach. But I will for sure be back to eat st Big Mike's again. The menu is perfect, has something for everyone ! But what really makes Big Mike's amazing are their specials ! I ordered a meat and 2 sides. The meat (BBQ Chicken) was perfect, it fell right off the bone. I also ordered the Mac and cheese which I couldn't get enough of. And the okra, which disappeared within minutes!

Although the restaurant is small and the tables are very close together, it was an amazing dinner and i will be back!

This place is poppin! After rolling up to this spot, I saw various catered orders leaving this place. People are coming and going and after walking in, there was a line. Okay... I'm just going to break down the likes and dislikes of this place.

    1. While there is a line, it is a very small spot. There are maybe 5 or 6 chairs for people to sit. Everyone else needs to stand. I get there's not much they can do with the spot they have, but hopefully, they'll be able to expand to include a bigger waiting area.

    2. There needs to be a sign or something that advises customers on what to do if they are doing take out or eating in. If you're doing take out, you just walk up to the register, I was told. But if you are eating in, you still need to walk up to the register to be given a number to wait until a table is available. A sign helps.

    3. The flavor of the food is pretty good... except the Yams. I had one bite and did not go back for more. That was a waste of veg. They need to add more brown sugar and butter to that pot.

    4. The mac and cheese has really good flavor, but it is extremely dry. I'm not a big fan of slicing my mac and cheese. They really should work on making this a little more creamier. Maybe add some cream or milk. Maybe make a cheese sauce with whatever spices they use.

    5. The fried fish was really good. I put some hot sauce on that bad boy. I probably would have been better off getting a fried fish sandwich. I believe it was Whiting. I overheard some customers talking about how they wanted it, but was told by the lady at the register that there were quite a few bones in it. So they didn't get it. There weren't any bones in my fish.

    6. The cornbread is dryyyyyyyyy! The flavor is decent, but you practically have to eat this with your head turned up, so all the crumbs will fall in your mouth rather than in your tray from breaking off pieces.

    7. My husband is from Tabor City which is right around the corner from MB. He ordered the chicken bog and he said it was okay, but his is better.

My girls had the grilled cheese and fries.... the fries were good.

It was nice to try something off the beaten path, but we probably won't' be back.

Update: I just realized I ordered peach cobbler but they didn't put it in my bag. I would deduct another star, but whatever.

It was a little confusing when we arrived. Didn't know if we seated ourselves or waited  to be seated. You wait to be seated.  Parking lot is very small we parked next door.

    Four people in our group
Kids had bbq chicken wings and chicken tenders. Both enjoyed them.
Adults had the blue plate special.
Me pork chops and her fried fish. Sides were slaw, Mac and cheese mashed potato's & fried okra.
    Sweet tea was awesome.
Renee was our waitress and did a great job. Very friendly.
I'll  recommend and be back if I'm in myrtle beach again.

Wow!!! I found this on Yelp and the reviews were pretty solid!!! So I wanted to make sure I checked this place out before leaving. It's location is close to the ocean front hotels but it's in the cut and parking is limited in the front of the actual restaurant. This place gets SO BUSY!!! Be prepared to wait!!!  Call ahead if you are going to take out. The line was long and it was a 30 min wait to get seated and they only have about 10 tables in the actual place. Lol

Renee was our server and she did a good job of welcoming us to the town and choosing some tasty South Carolina Soul Food options. The Blue Plate option is the best deal you can get. You get A LOT of food for what you pay for and shamelessly I ate my ENTIRE PLATE OF FOOD!!! Don't judge! The wait make me extremely hungry lol!!! The chicken was good but the fried fish? Was better!!! Their sides??? We're everything good!!!

I ordered the cheesecake which was $2.50 and their peach cobbler was $1.50!!! That was all good!!! If you are looking for some good soul food? This is the place to go and it's close to the beach!!

Only things I didn't like was the wait in line and parking. Everything was great!!! Thank you!!!
